The Mushroom Punch contest, a competition sponsored by the University of Queensland and the Queensland Museum of Science, was held at the University on Saturday.
The Mushroom Punch is a contest to determine the best mushroom pun of the year.
The contest was launched by Queensland Tourism Minister, Rob Stokes, in a bid to encourage the sharing of the fun.
Mushrooms are a favourite with students, art lovers and even tourists.
The Queensland Museum said it was a wonderful opportunity to showcase Queensland’s unique culinary heritage and encourage the public to explore and taste the world’s most delicious edible mushrooms.
The Queensland Museum is currently developing the first phase of a tourism-focused festival called The Mushroom Bash.
It is set to be held from February 27 to April 10, 2019, at the Queensland State Library, University of New South Wales, at 2.00pm.
