The blast happened at a home in Haines, Ill., early Sunday morning, but the cause of the explosion has not been determined.
A few hours later, a truck plowed into a crowd of people on a street in suburban Hainens.
There was no immediate word on the injuries.
The National Weather Service reported the blast occurred at about 2 a.m.
ET near the intersection of Interstate 94 and North Lake Shore Drive.
The weather service said it was a very close call.
There were no reports of injuries.
There are no confirmed reports of mushroom farm explosions in the U.S., but there have been some reported in Europe, including in France, Belgium and Italy.
